Volunteer Information & FAQ

We are excited to welcome our community to our campus for Trunk-or-Treat but we need your help to make it a great experience for our guests. Sign up now to host a trunk, welcome people and direct traffic in the parking lot, host a (church provided) game, or cook & serve food. We will begin our evening with a sensory friendly time at 4:00 pm for those with special needs or who may need a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere. At 4:30 pm we will open to all children and families and we will wrap things up by 6:30 pm. If you have questions that are not answered below, please contact April Alston.

What are the times for this event?

The parking lot will open at 3:00 pm for folks to begin setting up their trunk. Trunks need to be in place, ready to greet guests at 4:00 pm. We will open to guests with special needs at 4:00 pm and to the wider community at 4:30 pm. We will wrap up by 6:30 pm.

What does it mean to host a trunk?

You will park a vehicle in our parking lot and decorate the ‘trunk’ in a theme of your choice. Kids will come by and trunk or treat from your trunk just as they would from your door on Halloween. This year we are asking all trunk hosts to provide their own candy/treat for our guests. Please plan for 150 trick-or-treaters.

Does my trunk have to have a game?

No. You are welcome to have a game or activity at your trunk but it is not required. If you are planning a game/activity at your trunk or need additional space to execute your plan please let us know so that we can map out where each participant will be as we try to manage the traffic flow or our trick or treaters.

What does sensory friendly mean?

Keep any sound/music very low. Turn off any lights/blinking/flashing things. If your trunk is ‘scary’ try to tone it down for this crowd. If you are wearing a mask that covers your face, please take it off during this time. Be mindful that some guests may need assistance playing games. Know that guests may not be very vocal in their communication with you.

I don’t want to host a trunk. How else can I help?

Host a game: We will set up a game/activity for you. You just show up with candy and help children paly the provided game.

Join the Food Team: Prepare and serve hotdogs and hamburgers, chips and drinks for our guests to enjoy in the picnic area.

Join the Parking Lot Team: Welcome guests to our campus. Help guests find a parking space and find their way around our campus.

I can’t be here that night, but I want to be a part of the fun. How can I help?

Donate candy/treats to someone who is hosting a trunk or a game. Pray for our volunteers and guests.
