The Gravity of Joy with Angela Williams Gorrell
In this episode of The Living Stone, Angela Williams Gorrell joins Pastor Anna Beth Cross and Pastor Chrissy Tatum Williamson for a conversation about her book The Gravity of Joy: A Story of Being Lost and Found and her work toward “a life worth living.” In addition to this book and project, the three discuss where God is in the midst of suffering, how grief and lament lead to joy, and what spiritual practices, both individual and communal, help to create spaces that cultivate joy.
Angela Williams Gorrell’s Bio:
Dr. Angela Williams Gorrell has held many roles as an author, professor, researcher, speaker, pastor, chaplain, consultant, and mentor. She has a PhD from Fuller Seminary, is ordained in the Mennonite church, and most recently taught at Baylor University’s Truett Seminary as an Assistant Professor of Practical Theology. Angela began researching joy as an Associate Research Scholar at the Yale Center for Faith and Culture at Yale University in 2016, which led to her most recent book, The Gravity of Joy: A Story of Being Lost and Found. She is also the author of Always On: Practicing Faith in a New Media Landscape.
